Tea and Crumpets

Why don't you just go boil something

This is about what the Tea and Crumpets is about.

Well, one day I was taking a walk with my sister Aleatha, who is four years older than me. These walks are particularly interesting because we talk aobut things like philosophy and Blue Avenger-type stuff. I don't remember what we were taking about, but Aleatha told me I should make a zine. I didn't know what a zine was, and Aleatha said it was like a magazine or newspaper that someone made by themselves or with a few other people. A zine could be about anything, by anyone.

So, that night, I was all "fired up" about this idea, and I kept on coming up with sub-ideas and writing them down on sticky notes. Naturally, I wondered what the name of my zine would be. As I pondered that, the name just

just came to me like that.

"Tea and crumpets" is a British phrase very much like "fish and chips" (which I have never tried together, and I have never tried crumpets, but I will as soon as possible). It's just a phrase I hear all the time.

I wasn't sure what crumpets were, so I looked it up on the internet. I first heard of them on that "Standin' Tall" tape called "Happiness" which was about a spoiled princess who was never happy. In one part, she says, "I hate crumpets! They burn my fingers!" I pictured crumpets to look like fishsticks, (my favorite food at the time) probably because I had burned my fingers on one once. Mmm, crumpets.
